The ORAS Story Legend Soft Reset Thread

To all those playing ORAS:

It appears that the following applies to the Latias/Latios that you get as part of the story. The nature can be influenced by a Synchronizer. So despite the battle beforehand, eliminating the chance for a different nature is well worth it. This is probably the best chance at getting a good legendary on your own game that we've had thus far in Pokemon. I will be Soft Resetting (SR'ing), let us know if you want to give it a try too and we'll get you set up with a Synchronizer, and make sure you post here before you start so we don't overlap sets. Don't forget, the more that contribute, the better off we all are.

UPDATE: This topic is being broadened to include ALL ORAS Legends THAT MUST BE CAPTURED TO PROGRESS THE STORY. This means that if I'm not mistaken, that is 5 Pokemon that will be covered in this thread. If everyone that would like to Soft Reset for the other legends could please refrain until the breeding project is done, that would be great. (Wink Wink)

SUPER UPDATE: It has been brought to my attention by more than one person that Kyogre/Groudon will reappear in the same location later in the game if you knock it out during your first encounter. If this is true, I would suggest doing that, because the second encounter will be without all of the cutscenes. Proceed at your own risk, however, I cannot confirm this to be true. But, even if this isn't true, there are bound to be lots of people that will have perfect ones, and I have been building up my legendary collection lately, so we can surely get another.

I would suggest a spread with 5 really strong IV's. Not necessarily perfect, but darn near it.

Oh, I almost forgot, don't be afraid to use this Latias/Latios, we can always clear it's IV's later. Or, if you want, use Super Training (That's what I'm going to do) to get the set as soon as you get it. post here and we'll decide on IV's for the set.

Its b/c I wanted 4 31 IVs. That way I can say it was 1 stat off rather than 2.

I know, I know that speed is important, but on Kyogre I'm wondering how important. Will this do?

I'm by no means an ubers expert, but honestly looking at the tier base 90 is incredibly overpopulated... I would say perfect speed is kinda essential.

I can probably soft reset for Adamant and naughty Groudon.

EDIT: Gave my brother Alpha Saphire to play so he can soft reset for another nature for Latias/Kyogre if you guys want.

After many hours on the road doing nothing but SR'ing this is the Latias I got and I am sticking with it.

Got me a 31/31/26/31/9/31 Naive Rayquaza. All things considered, I'd say that's pretty darn good. Special defense is lower than I'd like it too be, but it's not that big an issue on such an offensive power house. I think this one will be an all out attacker, someone else can reset for jolly, and that one can be a more setup sweeper.

And if anyone didn't see the original post edit, allegedly, Kyogre/Groudon and and the thing after Rayquaza (spoiler saver) can be fainted and will respawn. I haven't tried it yet.

Also, dat delta episode tho.

I've reached the point of capturing (acquiring) Latias. Has anyone gone for Modest? I'm going for that.

Bouncer did. Is there a chance you could go for like calm or something? I don't know what other natures it needs.

I got a (at Level 30) 27-29, 17-19, 27-29, 30-31, 30-31, 30-31. I stuck with it though to progress. Another person can probably go for Calm. If I get the Eon Ticket on my OR (which I haven't played yet), I'll soft-reset for Calm. There's an Eon Ticket Distribution in the Nintendo World Store in NYC until 14 Jan, and I'll be passing by New York later this December so I'll try to pop in to grab that Eon Ticket.

Yeah, it's fine, I'm not even sure it's necessary to get Calm. It's my fault for not updating the post. We need Latios much more than Latias anyway, so if you're gonna put effort into one, do it when you play through OR.

After browsing, looks like Ms. C is going for Timid on Kyogre. Apart from Bold, Modest, and Timid, is Calm a viable nature on it? I'm not an expert on Ubers sets.

Oh yeah, and general question: These legends that we soft-reset (and the million others we're soft-resetting later), do we keep them untouched or touched? Personally, as I am not much of a collector, touched is fine and just reset the EVs later. But what's the general sentiment concerning this one?

I think I addressed that in the OP, it doesn't matter. I Super Trained my Latias, but it's not a big deal if you use it. It's a really fun Pokemon to use through the game, so don't kill you're experience with the game just for this.

And yeah, Calm is, as far as I know, a very viable nature for that.

Currently SRing for Timid Latios, but I see we got one already... is there any way to check hidden powers at this point in the game? HP Fire would be sweet.

Personally I would prefer untouched, simply because if someone did want to run a different set, reset bags are a pain to get, whereas EV training is super easy and there appears to be no RNG involved now thanks to 100% encounters and no rain. Basically, there is enough RNG involved in just getting these things, I don't then want to spend an hour punching for reset bags. But that's just my two cents. I'm not gonna complain if they are trained.

Managed to find Cobalion in Pathless plain yesterday (KOd Kyogre btw)

Got a Jolly set w/o Sychronize with 31/x/31/31/x/31 though needless to say didnt keep. Probably will go for one in the future.

Best Kyogre I got was Bold 31/31/x/31/31/x that cutscene was terrible though, guess I gotta wait post E4.

And yeah Karp, I do understand, but using a legend throughout the bulk of the game is really fun. That's never really been a thing before, and it's really cool.

After much resetting I got a 31/9/31/28/31/31 Timid Latios. Not much different to beef's, but the low attack IV and perfect defenses are nice. I'm gonna give up on HP fire, it's too much of a pain to check having not even reached Fortree at this point, and besides, this is the only good Lati I got in hours. I'm sick of Courtney's face

I'm pre victory road currently farming Sychronize Ralts of different natures for post-game. Dont plan on SRing anything till post-E4 but Kyogre is first.

Calm Kyogre at Level 45:

HP: 29-31
Attack: 12-15
Defense: 29-31
Special Attack: 29-31
Special Defense: 25-26
Speed: 29-31

I think it's not that bad. Intended for Calm Mind set so I guess it offsets the imperfect Special Defense IV? (Damn RNG, why couldn't you just make the SpD perfect?)

Just beat the E4 and Kyogre is back so those of you skeptical on making it faint you can feel confident it'll come back.

Got to the part with Rayquaza. Brung my Naive Sync Ralts just to see. Probably not locking for Naive though. I might come back with Adamant/Jolly.

And yes I'm aware you did Naive Bunsel. Just testing my luck here.

and you dont need to invest into those 30s and just put the last 4 in SpD o.o

That is until you consider you cant put 4 more in HP as it'll go to waste leaving HP at 180 thus making it not be able to avoid SR's 4HKO D:

But otherwise its perfect outside that minor aspect.

Since Karp did Jolly guess I can stick with Naive. I feel like I could do a bit better than Bunsel looking at the luck I had with Yveltals.

Also I found out some people I know at school have the Eon Ticket. If I bring my DS over there that means I'll be able to SR for Latios w/o that cutscene

Yes to Groudon lol. But Deoxys isn't a necessary capture, faint it and come back after you beat the E4 again. Because the first time you get to it, it's directly after the Rayquaza sequence.

Plus, we're gonna make a small project from SR'ing after the breeding is done.

After just one soft reset I managed to get a 27-28/29/31/31/31/30 adamant Groudon.  Needless to say I will keep trying. lol
