Sad News

For those who haven't heard, Saturo Iwata, president of Nintendo, passed away yeterday (technically July 11 depending on time zones and such). He was, among other things, instrumental in the creation of Creatures, Inc. and was key in the development of the first two generations of Pokémon games. He was the most involved CEO on the planet, and he had a hand (thanks to his programming background) in the development of nearly all Nintendo games we know and love. Truly a shock. My prayers will go out to his family and the rest of Nintendo.

For those who didn't know, and I only found out yesterday, he single-handedly was responsible for the compression of Pokémon Silver and Gold to allow for more room on the cartridge. And that room was filled with Kanto.

To expand, he actually wasn't contracted to do it. He did it in his spare time because he felt that players deserved more than just Johto.

One more thing, he also reworked the Pokemon red and green battle logic code to work on the Nintendo 64 for, you guessed it, Pokemon Stadium.
